After a brief stint as a model for fashion and then a transition to acting by appearing as a guest on TV shows like Boy Meets World in the 1990s as well as High Incident. Her debut on film was the drama Nowhere, that was released in the year 1997. The performances she made on the film American Beauty, for which she won an BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie led to her being the subject of more public attention.
